I go to every one of the sales. All of his clothing is name brand and I only buy it if it is newer condition.
I get those usually at Ross or on clearance. Even Amazon has them on sale. Since my son likes to tie his socks in knots and make ropes all the time UGH! I have to buy extras, in which case, when I come across the deals, I stock ahead as well.
My favorite score was a really nice brand name snow jacket 2 in 1 with cell phone holder, etc. Wish it was my size. They run a lot of sales, where they offer huge discounts on already clearanced items, free shipping for any purchase amount, the whole 9 yards. I love to buy from them on such sales because I know that I can get that same amount for the items after the kids are done with them. Mostly for my daughter.
Be responsible and generous with your finds. I usually like to help others if they need a certain item in a pinch from our church. Be a smart shopper.
Some people like to send me their physical mailing address, asking me to ship them free clothes. I do not ship clothing. It would be too expensive to do so. That is so awesome! I, sometimes, donate clothing to homeless shelters and give to ladies in my church to help with their little ones here locally. I still shop at GAP, Gymboree, etc. Thank you for visiting. Every month when I am budgeting, I set aside money for birthdays, Christmas, back to school, etc.
When I see a great deal on clearance that is perfect, I buy it. I save so much money by simply planning ahead. Very nice post Sarah! Saving some money from your monthly budget for kids clothes is a very wise choice. The next thing is to find a store that offers affordable dresses that are made of quality fabrics. You can also check Craigslist. That is where I get my quality dresses for my daughter. I also sell wholesale clothing for cheaper than going downtown and I sell other products as well.
I agree that moms should be able to have the option to stay home. It took a lot for me to have that possibility and my oldest is already 8! Thank you for posting this, I am sharing it! Angie, thank you for sharing. Oh man, living in a town where Walmart is your best option…I feel your pain!
Years ago, I lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon, a smaller community where Walmart was the best option as well. Often times, there are stores there that we are not aware of. Or a thrift store that is really low-key. My best suggestion is look around as your driving for new spots. Every option in a small town is an option.
Find the stores with the best deals, best quality and just do your best. It sounds like you are an amazing woman and I love how you sell things to be able to stay home with your kids. I agree, yard sales are a great way to save on kids clothes.
Sometimes I find people want too much for their stuff. Do you have any techniques for getting them down in price? I just started buying clothes for my 9 year old twins for the first time in their lives.
Hand Me Down clothes have been life savers in my home. Just be sure to get them for the price in which you can sell them for and they will end up being free. All of his clothing is name brand and I only buy it if it is newer condition. I work at a local retail store and we sell what is called repack socks and undies.
These items come from packages that have been torn open and sometimes a pair is missing so the package can not be sold as a whole. The socks are normally priced at. I check these bins every time i work i rarely pay more than. At these prices i can keep my family of 5 well stocked in socks and undies.
I have three teens, Goodwill is our best place, most of the time we find some really great clothes, many with the tags on. We also swap clothes with my friends, I hand down clothes from my oldest to her daughter, and she sends me clothes from her daughter to my youngest. We both tend to buy only quality clothes so they look great even after going through all 3 girls. Your article gives amazing advice on saving money. Just purchased a cute sweater sized big, Going to put the new and super easy to make full tulle skirt or consignment store tutu under it.
When the weather turns cool, a white collar shirt underneath the sweater, Goodwill distressed jeans, boots and a homemade infinity scarf makes two outfits and more for a whooping six dollars. Would love to know about the wrap being worn in the Fall picture, the one with tassels.
I also like to shop ahead. I will look at the clearance racks at the end of the season to get clothes for the next year. Sometimes it is hard to figure out what size to buy you cannot predict how fast or slow a kiddo will grow! I have learned to buy larger rather than smaller and do not overbuy from the clearance racks! What is your favorite place to find the clearance clothes? I have a little girl! Hi Sarah,My kids are grown now but back when they were little we employed all your techniques for low cost clothes that you have shared.
I do have to say that by the time we it size twelve it was hard to find updated styles. However, I thought this was a post about how to get freeee clothes. I was a little surprised to see it was not. I thought I would share with you an idea that can be truly free.
If you have friends, a play group, or a church group etc you can do a kid clothes swap with them. Bring some take some. Set up the parameters for the swap and have a ball. Everyone could bring tea and cookies to help create a social event at the same time.
